Debunking Common Beauty Salon Myths
For many women, the beauty salon is still a place of mystery and wonder. These are the women who have no training in beauty salon techniques and who only find themselves going to the salon a few times a year for a trim. A beauty salon should not be looked at as something that is scary, which is why we’re going to debunk some of the most common beauty salon myths out there.
Waxing Is Bad!
The most common myth you hear is that waxing is a horrible thing. Many claim that it is an excruciatingly painful procedure, while others claim that it will cause your hair to grow back even darker than it currently is. Both of these are myths. The hair will not grow back any darker than it currently is because the hair follicle itself is remaining unchanged. The only way that the hair would grow back differently would be if something happened to change the hair follicle itself.
Waxing can be a bit painful, but it is not excruciating pain, especially if you have a talented technician who has been waxing for a while. When you get a waxing done, the technician should pull the skin taut before they pull off the wax. This helps to minimize the amount of pain. And after a moment or two, any pain that occurs from the pulling off of the wax will be gone, and you will be able to be hairless for quite some time.
Facials
There are plenty of myths about facials and beauty salons. One of the most common misconceptions is that a facial will leave the skin on your face raw. This rumor likely got started when a person found that they were allergic to some of the ingredients in the facial mask. Most facial masks will do absolutely no harm to your face and will only enhance the way that you look. If you’re worried about an allergy in one of the mask ingredients, make sure you tell your beauty technician about anything that you’re allergic to that would be likely to be in a mask, especially fruits or vegetables. A facial should leave you feeling refreshed, not in pain!
Getting Makeup Done
Another myth that you may have heard is that the only way you can get your makeup done at a hair salon is if you’re planning on getting married. Most hair and beauty salons actually have a part of the salon sectioned off so that makeup can be done on willing and eager patrons. If you want to have your makeup done for the day, or if you’d like some tips on how to get your makeup looking perfect, then don’t hesitate to book a makeup session with your beauty technician!
